Docusign is seeking a Director and Associate General Counsel, Commercial & Regulatory, to join their Commercial, Growth & Trust Legal team. This role offers the opportunity to provide critical support to Docusign’s Go To Market (GTM) organization while acting as a subject matter expert on the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). The successful candidate will balance high-volume commercial transactions with strategic advisory work on AI governance, data privacy, and emerging EMEA digital regulations to support the company’s growth and strategic compliance posture. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a passion for leveraging AI to accelerate the commercial legal function, leading a team of committed power users and evangelists of Docusign products.
As part of our Commercial, Growth & Trust Legal team you will work closely with other members of the Docusign Legal team and business, advising on key issues to provide critical guidance to support the continued growth of Docusign’s intelligent agreement management (IAM) platform. The Director and Associate General Counsel, Commercial & Regulatory will work with a wide variety of business partners to provide timely, thorough, and strategic advice on commercial and regulatory issues at Docusign. This position is a manager role reporting to the Vice President & Deputy General Counsel - Commercial, Growth & Trust and will be designated hybrid with an office location in Paris, France; Dublin, Ireland; or London, England.
Responsibility
Drive Compliance Leadership
Serve as the primary regional legal advisor and partner with other members of Docusign Legal to proactively develop positions on compliance with European digital laws and regulations, including the EU Data Act, the EU AI Act, eIDAS, NIS2, and the Digital Services Act, among others, to ensure Docusign’s product suite remains compliant and a competitive differentiator in local EMEA markets
Serve as a key strategic business partner to Docusign leadership, advise on impact to Docusign and its customers concerning emerging European regulatory developments and provide pragmatic, actionable guidance that differentiates Docusign in the EMEA market and builds customer confidence
Cut through complexity – distill complex legal and regulatory questions into clear business choices that align with Docusign’s risk appetite and trust brand reputation
Accelerate the Commercial Legal Function
Cultivate and lead a tech-fluent team of EMEA go-to-market attorneys who thrive at the intersection of law and innovation, ensuring the legal function remains a strategic driver of AI adoption, product evolution and growth for Docusign
Negotiate, draft, and review a wide range of commercial agreements, primarily Master Services Agreements (MSAs) and related order forms, statements of work, partnership agreements, NDAs and other agreements, ensuring alignment with Docusign's business objectives and risk profile
Strengthen and optimize the contracting process for scalable impact – work cross functionally and use AI to design smart processes, playbooks, templates, and GTM collateral
Ensure that legal and regulatory compliance awareness is embedded into everyday decision-making to reduce friction and accelerate deal velocity
Mentor and coach team members – actively support professional development of attorneys and empower them to exercise strong legal and business judgment and encourage their growth into broader responsibilities across commercial and regulatory compliance matters
Serve as Champion of Docusign and Intelligent Agreement Management
Passionately champion the internal use of Docusign’s intelligent agreement management products, collaborating closely with the Product organization to help build best-in-class products for the legal person
Evangelize the use of Docusign products and serve as a thought leader in the EU, speaking at industry conferences and events in-region to drive awareness in the fast-developing EU legal tech space
Partner closely with the GTM team to promote the Docusign story to our customers and articulate the value proposition of Docusign IAM in order to help grow our EU business
Partner closely with our Government Affairs team to help build trusted relationships in EMEA with policy makers, experts, and industry partners, ensuring Docusign is well-positioned to influence policy and industry in alignment with our IAM strategy

Constantly immersed in critical, high-level operations, you partner across the business to solve challenging problems and support our growth and progress around the world. The Legal team focuses on providing thorough legal and security analysis and advice to foster sound decision-making, and on ensuring compliance with legal and other relevant standards and certifications.
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
