What you'll do

As the Director, Workplace Experience you will be a visionary and highly strategic leader, responsible for defining, developing, and executing the global strategy for Docusign's international workplace experience and operations. Based at our EMEA Headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, you will lead a complex, geographically dispersed team, ensuring operational excellence, innovation in employee experience, and strategic alignment across diverse international markets and regulatory landscapes. This role requires significant influence at executive levels and the ability to drive large-scale, transformative initiatives that directly impact Docusign's global workforce and business objectives. The Director will play an instrumental role by closely aligning with our HR business partner team to engage with key business stakeholders on global location strategy + operations and broader People Team initiatives.

 

This position is a people manager role reporting to the Sr. Director, Workplace Experience.

 

Responsibility

  • Define and own the overarching strategic vision and roadmap for Docusign's international workplace experience and operations, ensuring alignment with global company objectives and a future-forward approach to hybrid and distributed work

  • Drive the continuous evolution of our international workplace strategy, incorporating emerging trends, technological advancements, and best practices to enhance employee productivity, engagement, and well-being

  • Champion a culture of innovation, leading the identification, piloting, and scaling of new workplace concepts, service models, and collaboration tools across all international locations

  • Establish and execute global standards for operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and consistent employee experience across all international Docusign offices

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of global Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure efficiency and consistency worldwide

  • Oversee the management of the international workplace budget, partnering with FP&A to develop annual forecasts and ensure prudent financial management throughout the year

  • Drive the regional Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process for all international locations, ensuring robust performance tracking and strategic adjustments

  • Build and cultivate strategic relationships with C-suite leaders, regional executives, and key stakeholders across all international markets to deeply understand organizational goals and proactively align workplace strategies

  • Influence and advise senior leadership on critical workplace decisions, articulating the strategic impact of workplace initiatives on business outcomes and employee effectiveness

  • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives that span multiple departments and international geographies, leveraging advanced program management tools and methodologies

  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) across international regions to ensure workplace strategies and initiatives are deeply aligned with enterprise strategic people goals and local business needs

  • Collaborate with HRBPs to leverage employee insights and feedback from surveys (e.g., bi-annual employee surveys) to inform workplace improvements and foster a highly engaged international workforce

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing, geographically distributed team of Workplace Experience professionals across diverse international cultures and time zones

  • Foster a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development within the international team, empowering them to drive impact and innovation

  • Oversee talent management for the international team, including recruitment, performance management, and career progression, ensuring a robust talent pipeline.

  • Partner deeply with Global Real Estate and Workplace Design teams to inform future international office expansions, renovations, and new build-outs, ensuring optimal design for experience and operational objectives

  • Collaborate with People team functions (e.g., Learning &Development, Culture, ERGs) to design and implement consistent, impactful employee programs that resonate across international regions

  • Champion and lead complex change management efforts across international regions as new workplace approaches, services, and ways of working are introduced and scaled

  • Optimize global event management processes, ensuring effective utilization of international facilities for meaningful business outcomes

  • Maintain and build strategic relationships with vendors and suppliers across international regions to drive value and efficiencies

  • Drive effective cross-functional collaboration to ensure Workplace operations are in alignment and compliant with global and local regulations, partnering closely with teams such as Safety & Security, Crisis Management & Business Continuity, Sustainability, Real Estate, Finance, and the broader People Team

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • 12+ years of progressive professional experience in a leadership role within workplace operations, corporate real estate, facilities management, or hospitality management, with a significant portion in a global capacity, preferably at high-growth technology companies
  • 7+ years of proven experience directly leading and developing large, geographically distributed international workplace teams across multiple mid to large-scale locations
  • Experience strategically driving operational rigor and excellence while fostering an environment for continuous innovation and experimentation with workplace and collaboration concepts on a global scale
  • Experience with multi-regional budget planning, forecasting, and a proven track record of driving significant efficiencies in global operations with exceptional financial acumen
  • Experience in managing highly complex, cross-functional international initiatives, leveraging advanced program and project management methodologies and tools (e.g., PMP, Agile certifications)

Preferred

  • Deep expertise in global occupancy planning, Activity-Based Work (ABW) implementation, and advanced space optimization strategies within a multi-cultural, international context
  • Advanced practical understanding and application of design thinking and user-centered design methods to leverage global data and insights for innovative workplace experience solutions
  • Proven ability to develop, pilot, and successfully scale programs and concepts from regional to large-scale global implementations
  • Relevant professional certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PgMP), Agile, or Lean Six Sigma
  • High proficiency in global project management and collaboration software/tools
  • Experience managing large teams, including second line management experience
  • Superior ability to influence, communicate, and build alignment across all levels of a global organization, including creating and delivering compelling visual and written communications to executive leadership and diverse international audiences
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, with extensive experience facilitating high-stakes meetings, leading large international team events, and effectively engaging with senior executive leadership
  • Ability for significant international travel and time zone differences as business needs require

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

 

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

 

California: $X/hour - $X/hour or $X - $X base salary

 

Illinois, Colorado, Massachusetts and Minnesota: $X/hour - $X/hour or $X - $X base salary

 

Washington, Maryland, New Jersey and New York (including NYC metro area): $X/hour - $X/hour or $X - $X base salary

 

Washington DC: $X/hour - $X/hour or $X - $X base salary

 

Ohio: $X/hour - $X/hour or $X - $X base salary 

 

This role is also eligible for the following:

  • Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
  • Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
