What you'll do

As the Lead Applications Engineer - Oracle EPM, you will be responsible for working jointly with the FP&A, Accounting, Finance Business Transformation, Applications Product Management, Applications Engineering and Program Management teams to implement, integrate, and support the Oracle EPM suite of products.

 

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Director, Enterprise Applications.

 

Responsibility

  • Own the technical architectural vision for the EPM suite, aligning with business objectives and technology standards

  • Design and build scalable Oracle EPM Planning and Essbase solutions, developing and maintaining Essbase cubes, calculation scripts, business rules, and databases

  • Partner with stakeholders on all phases of Oracle Cloud EPM project implementations, from solution design and configuration to integration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support

  • Lead installation, environment management, application administration, user access, configuration, technical design, and development of data migrations, integrations, customizations, and reporting

  • Lead the development of testing scenarios and scripts, manage SIT execution, and support UAT

  • Collaborate and enforce Oracle's best practices for configuring applications, including dimensions, forms, rules, security, reports, integrations, and data loading/validation

  • Ensure compliance and data security requirements are met

  • Develop EPM Technical Accelerators to enhance implementation quality and efficiency

  • Provide technical expertise on AI-driven solutions for EPM, including data pipelines, model training/integration, vector databases, and intelligent service orchestration, especially around implementing agentic AI capabilities

  • Stay current with Oracle EPM technologies, industry trends, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation

  • Offer comprehensive support to end-users during critical financial processes, encompassing training, troubleshooting, and addressing technical issues to ensure high user adoption

  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for Planning and Essbase applications, including application administration, issue resolution, enhancements, custom reports, and user training

  • Create and maintain thorough documentation, including business processes, runbooks, system and technical architecture, and technical design

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor product performance, system health, user adoption, and satisfaction

  • Collaborate and mentor team members, fostering best practices in Oracle EPM configuration, development, and implementation

  • Influence and mentor cross-functional engineering teams, promoting best practices and driving adoption of new frameworks and technologies

  • Mentor junior team members and share expertise in Planning and Essbase technologies

  • Optimize performance and scalability of EPM Planning and Essbase applications through performance tuning, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization

  • Present engineering strategies, solutions, and metrics to executives, translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • 12+ years of experience with Oracle EPM suite (6+ years with a Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field)

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in architecting, implementing, customizing and supporting Oracle EPM Planning, Hyperion, and Essbase solutions

  • Experience in designing and implementing business performance management applications, including budgeting, forecasting, planning, consolidation, and reporting, with an an understanding of finance/accounting principles

  • Experience with Oracle Hyperion EPM Suite (On-Premise and Cloud), EPM Planning, EPBCS (all modules), EPCM, EDMCS, PCMCS, Calculation Manager, Narrative/Management Reporting, and Smart View

  • Experience with Predictive AI for EPM and Intelligent Narrative Generation, EPM Digital Assistant

  • Experience with report development (Financial Reporting, Smart View Ad-hoc Query)

  • Experience with Groovy Scripting, PL/SQL, OCI/VBCS coding, Page Customizations, ATP Database modeling/development

  • Architect-level experience integrating Oracle EPM with other enterprise systems for data/metadata exchange using OIC, SFTP, EPM Automate, and/or EPM Agents

  • Experience with direct Oracle integrations to Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and Oracle BI-Publisher using Data Exchange and Pipelines

  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, and data integration techniques

  • Experience with API-based integrations (e.g., Workday for Workforce planning)

Preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle best practices for configuring Planning application, data migration using EPM automate,and developing custom artifacts

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, quickly master new concepts, and translate business requirements into technical solutions with excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong techno-functional skills for custom solutions, expert-level EPM solution development (PBCS, FCCS, Essbase, Smart View) including cube design, dimension/hierarchy management, data integrations, EPM automate and report development

  • Understands/experience with Core Finance Cloud ERP modules (GL, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, Project Costing/Billing) for a global tech organization

  • Experience with SLA, Workflow, BI Publisher, OTBI, FBDI, and other finance module functionalities

  • Strong knowledge of Accounting, Financial Planning, Revenue Recognition, and Financial Reporting, with deep understanding of IFRS17 and U.S. GAAP

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Oracle Cloud EPM Planning 2024 Certified Implementation Professional

  • Understanding of ML/AI leveraging Oracle EPM IPM, including proof-of-concept implementations

  • Experience with Power BI and SQL queries

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

 

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

 

California: $177,900.00 - $287,425.00 base salary

 

Washington, Maryland, New Jersey and New York (including NYC metro area): $170,900.00 - $251,325.00 base salary

 

This role is also eligible for the following:

  • Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
  • Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
