What you'll do

As the Principal AI Engineer - Enterprise Applications you will be responsible for collaborating with the Enterprise Applications (Finance, Go To Market, Commerce, HR and Operations), Enterprise Architecture, Product Management, Global Data amp; Analytics and Enterprise Integration teams to build and provide innovative and scalable technology solutions. An essential component of this position involves integrating AI capabilities into business technologies to bolster innovation and drive tangible business outcomes. We are looking for a hands-on forward looking thought leader who will architect, design and build the future state of our Enterprise Applications.

 

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Director, Enterprise Applications.

 

Responsibility

  • Architect, design, develop, and implement scalable AI-powered technology solutions for future enterprise application platforms in collaboration with cross-functional teams (business, product management, enterprise architecture, and engineering)

  • Lead the architecture, design, development, and operation of large-scale cloud services, with a focus on AI components for enterprise applications

  • Drive the technical strategy and evolution of system architecture, analyze complex issues, propose solutions, and ensure alignment with business and technical needs

  • Incubate new ideas, stay updated on emerging technologies (especially AI/GenAI), and promote their adoption where relevant to the product roadmap

  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, researchers, and other stakeholders to define, refine, and execute the technical product roadmap

  • Take ownership of software deliverables, ensuring high standards in quality, security, scalability, performance, and maintainability

  • Provide technical expertise on AI-driven solutions, including data pipelines, model training/integration, vector databases, and intelligent service orchestration

  • Integrate AI capabilities like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector databases to drive innovation and business outcomes

  • Create system flows, technical documentation, solution design documents, and product demos

  • Drive root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions for production issues to ensure system reliability and performance

  • Champion and improve engineering best practices (CI/CD, testing, security, operational excellence) across teams to foster a culture of quality and velocity

  • Assist in defining, tracking, and automating key engineering metrics for data-driven decisions

  • Present software engineering strategies and solutions to executives, translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights

  • Collaborate with internal, external, security, and compliance teams to ensure proper controls and adherence to regulations, including AI tool usage

  • Mentor and grow engineers across teams, fostering technical excellence, conducting design reviews, sharing knowledge, and supporting career advancement

  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and attracting top engineering talent

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent practical experience
  • 15+ years of experience in architecting and delivering complex, large-scale commercial applications or platform services
  • Experience in shipping products or features leveraging AI/ML and Generative AI (GenAI) technologies preferably for Enterprise Applications
  • Experience in AI frameworks, ML Ops, RAG architectures, LLMs, Agentic AI, and enterprise AI deployment models for internal and external platforms
  • Proficient in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Javascript, C#) and data-streaming platforms (AWS Kinesis, Apache Kafka)
  • Experience with web service technologies including REST APIs, SOAP, and JSON/XML
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms, architectural design patterns (microservices, event-driven), and system design for highly scalable, distributed, and reliable platform services
  • Experience with cloud services from major public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle OCI)
  • Experience with multithreading, asynchronous programming, API design (REST, gRPC), and building reliable, high-performance cloud services
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture (SOA), microservices, and web services development
  • Demonstrated ability to build application solutions from the ground up and provide leadership to teams of engineers and SMEs
  • Experience working effectively within globally distributed teams

Preferred

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong teamwork and agile development skills
  • Proven ability to influence and mentor employees with indirect reporting in a matrix organization
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proven ability to architect complex systems for efficient large-scale data processing and analysis
  • Understanding of key business processes for a Global SaaS company such as Lead to Opportunity, Quote to Cash, Revenue Recognition, Record to Report, Procure to Pay and underlying applications to support them
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Applications (such as Salesforce, Oracle Cloud ERP, Workday, Zuora, Apttus.
  • Understanding and/or experience on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and PaaS, and experience with VBCS, Groovy, BI Publisher, OTBI, FBDI., etc.

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

 

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

 

California: $202,800.00 - $327,625.00 base salary

 

This role is also eligible for the following:

  • Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
  • Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
